The Year 2009 is the millennium of the first mention of Lithuania’s name in historical sources, and Vilnius has been honored with designation as a European Capital of Culture. Many special events, exhibits, and publications are scheduled to attract visitors and to acquaint them with Lithuania’s journey through the ages.
